PRIVATE LESSONS AND TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Studio Overview
Jennifer Shannon has been teaching flute for over 20 years, working with students of all ages and levels of experience. Her goal is to make each lesson engaging, supportive, and informative while fostering strong fundamentals, musical independence, and a genuine love of music.
Lessons are offered in her home studio in Norman, Oklahoma, virtually, and through contracted schools in the surrounding area. Her studio includes accomplished young musicians such as All-Region, All-Area, and All-State Band members, as well as students earning “Superior” ratings at Solo & Ensemble contests. Former students have gone on to pursue music degrees at institutions including the University of Texas, the University of North Texas, the Conservatory of Music and Dance at the University of Missouri–Kansas City, Baylor University, the University of Houston, Stephen F. Austin State University, Lamar University, the University of Oregon, and Southeast Missouri State University.

Lesson Opportunities & Services
Students of all ages and proficiency levels are welcome. Jennifer is also available for masterclasses, sectional and ensemble coaching, region band and Solo & Ensemble judging, competition adjudication, single or short-term lessons (such as region music or contest preparation), and other related engagements.

Studio Structure & Policies
Students enrolled in the studio commit to weekly lessons throughout the semester at a regularly assigned time, either in person or virtually. Payment is due at the beginning of each lesson; lessons will not be taught if payment has not been received.
Lesson rates are available upon request.
Students are expected to arrive with their flute in good working condition. A metronome and tuner are required for all lessons, and additional music or materials may be assigned as needed.

Cancellations & Make-Ups
Registration for private lessons represents a commitment between the student and the teacher to the scheduled weekly lesson time. Lessons may be rescheduled with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice in the case of school conflicts, illness, or inclement weather. Make-up lessons should be scheduled at the time of cancellation. Make-ups will be offered for any lessons canceled by the teacher.
There are no refunds for missed lessons or unexcused absences. Lessons canceled without notice will be charged.

Jennifer reserves the right to discontinue lessons for any student who does not meet studio expectations. Grounds for termination include frequent cancellations or rescheduling, lack of preparation or consistent practice, and behavior that is disrespectful or disruptive.
